HAEMOGLOBIN
Haemoglobin: Haemoglobin consists of Haematin (a pigment containing
Iron) and globin (a protein). Haeme is an iron in Ferrous
form.
Functions of
haemoglobin
- It allow the carriage of large oxygen needed for metabolic activities. It
is important for carrying oxygen from the lungs to the tissues and cells.
- The buffering power of Hb is also an important factor. to maintain the
consistency of Blood PH.
- It plays an important role in the transport of CO2 and
regulation of blood.
